A disturbing case has emerged from Maharashtra’s Chandrapur district, where a farmer has alleged that he was forced to lose his kidney after falling into a debt trap linked to illegal moneylenders. According to the victim, what began as a ₹1 lakh loan during a period of crop failure soon turned into a nightmare, with interest amounts rising uncontrollably.
The farmer claims that repeated crop losses, the death of his cattle, and mounting pressure from local moneylenders left him with no option but to sell his land and tractor to repay the debt. Despite clearing the amount, he alleges that the harassment continued, pushing him into further financial and mental distress.
In his complaint, the farmer has alleged that he was taken abroad under false promises of work and was later subjected to illegal kidney removal. He claims the organ was taken without proper consent as part of an organised organ trafficking racket linked to the loan recovery process. The farmer has since returned to India and is struggling with serious health issues and financial hardship.
The victim has also accused the local police of inaction, stating that his complaints against the moneylenders and alleged organ racket have not been properly investigated. He has now appealed to senior authorities and the Maharashtra government, seeking justice, medical support, and strict action against those involved.
The case has sparked outrage among farmer rights groups and human rights activists, who are demanding a thorough investigation into the allegations of illegal organ trade, predatory lending practices, and failure of law enforcement. The incident has once again highlighted the deep-rooted issue of farmer debt and exploitation in rural India.
