Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Monday visited the sacred Sri Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple) in Amritsar to offer ‘shukrana’—a thanksgiving prayer—following the grand success of the three-day Gurmat Samagam held at Delhi’s historic Red Fort. The spiritual event, organised to commemorate the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, witnessed an unprecedented gathering of nearly six lakh devotees, which the Chief Minister described as a divine blessing and a testament to the Guru’s eternal grace.
CM Gupta arrived in Amritsar along with a high-level delegation of ministers, including Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Parvesh Sahib Singh, Ashish Sood, Kapil Mishra and Ravinder Indraj Singh. After bowing her head at the sanctum of the Golden Temple, the Chief Minister shared that her mind “found satisfaction” upon paying obeisance and expressed hope for continued blessings upon the people of Delhi and Punjab.
Demonstrating humility and devotion, CM Gupta and Minister Sirsa voluntarily participated in kar seva—the Sikh tradition of selfless service—by cleaning utensils in the Golden Temple premises. The gesture was widely appreciated and symbolised the spirit of equality and service that forms the foundation of Sikh philosophy.
Upon landing in Amritsar, the Chief Minister was warmly welcomed by BJP workers and senior party leaders at the Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport. They greeted her with flower bouquets and garlands, highlighting the significance of the visit following the deeply revered Samagam.
