Delhi has been pushed into an air pollution emergency as the Air Quality Index (AQI) continues to remain in the severe category, prompting authorities to impose GRAP Stage IV restrictions across the Delhi-NCR region. In response to the worsening air quality, the Delhi government has directed all schools to shift to hybrid learning mode for students up to Class IX and Class XI.
Under the new arrangement, schools will offer online classes alongside limited offline options, allowing students to reduce their exposure to toxic air while ensuring continuity in education. The decision comes amid rising health concerns, especially for children, as pollution levels pose serious respiratory risks.
Officials stated that the move is part of broader anti-pollution measures, which include restrictions on construction activities, vehicular movement, and industrial operations. Parents and schools have been advised to strictly follow government guidelines until air quality shows signs of improvement.
The latest order has brought relief to many families in Delhi, as concerns grow over student safety during the ongoing pollution crisis. Authorities have indicated that further decisions on school closures or continued hybrid classes will depend on upcoming AQI trends and weather conditions.
