Agan Bhet Sewa Performed for Old Saroops of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, Sangat Invited to Participate in Sacred Ceremony

A sacred Agan Bhet Sewa is currently being carried out with full reverence to respectfully consign old and damaged saroops of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji to holy flames, in strict accordance with Sikh religious traditions and maryada. The ceremony reflects the deep spiritual respect accorded to the Guru’s physical form and is being conducted with utmost sanctity and discipline.

According to reports by Sikhinside, a total of 57 saroops were received for the sacred sewa. After careful verification and review, 27 saroops were respectfully returned to their respective families and Gurdwaras, as they were found suitable for continued preservation. The remaining 30 saroops, which were beyond repair, will undergo Agan Bhet, the traditional and dignified method of consignment as prescribed in Sikh practices.

The Sangat has been warmly invited to take part in this deeply spiritual service. Devotees are participating in various forms of sewa, including the unbinding of associated gutkas, the application of ghee to the saroops, Chaur Sahib sewa, and assistance at the Angeetha Sahib, the sacred cremation site. Continuous kirtan (devotional singing) and langar sewa are also being organised, allowing the congregation to engage in both spiritual and community service.

Religious authorities overseeing the ceremony have emphasised that every step of the Agan Bhet Sewa is being performed strictly as per Sikh maryada, ensuring that the sanctity, dignity, and honour of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji are preserved throughout the final sacred rite.

The ceremony stands as a powerful reminder of the Sikh community’s unwavering commitment to respecting the Guru’s physical form and upholding religious values with devotion, discipline, and collective participation.
