Vaisakhi 2026 Pakistan Jatha: SGPC Opens Registration, Sets December 25 Passport Deadline

Amritsar: The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has officially begun preparations for the major Sikh Vaisakhi 2026 Pakistan Jatha, set to take place in April 2026 to mark Khalsa Sajna Diwas. Thousands of Sikh devotees from India are expected to travel to Pakistan to offer prayers at Gurdwara Sri Panja Sahib and other historic Sikh shrines.

To ensure timely visa processing and smooth travel arrangements, the SGPC’s Dharam Parchar and Travel Department has issued an important announcement for all interested pilgrims.

According to the committee, all applicants must submit their passports by December 25, 2025, along with essential supporting documents. These include:

.A valid passport

.A recommendation letter from the local SGPC member of their area

.A copy of their Aadhaar Card or Voter ID

The SGPC stated that these documents are mandatory for inclusion in the official jatha list and for forwarding details to Pakistan’s religious and immigration authorities. The 2026 pilgrimage holds significant spiritual importance, offering Sikhs a rare opportunity to reconnect with their sacred heritage located across the border.

The jatha will especially visit Gurdwara Sri Panja Sahib, where the central Vaisakhi celebrations will be held, along with other historical Gurdwaras such as Nankana Sahib and Gurdwara Dera Sahib (locations subject to the final itinerary).

SGPC officials urged devotees to strictly follow the December 25, 2025 deadline, warning that late submissions will not be accepted due to stringent visa timelines set by Pakistani authorities.

The annual Vaisakhi pilgrimage continues to witness high enthusiasm among Sikh devotees, reflecting the strong cultural, historical, and religious ties shared between Sikhism and Pakistan’s sacred Gurdwaras.
